Cardiff ranked top in the UK for Pharmacy and Pharmacology in the Guardian League Tables 2014
The Department of Pharmacology, Therapeutics and Toxicology, part of the Institute of Molecular and Experimental Medicine (IMEM) in the School of Medicine, is delighted to see that pharmacology, together with pharmacy (delivered by the Pharmacy School in Cardiff), is now ranked number 1 in the UK in the Guardian League Tables for 2014 with a Guardian score of 100 out of 100.
The Department of Pharmacology, Therapeutics and Toxicology delivers the highly popular BSc in Medical Pharmacology, which also provides a graduate entry stream into the Medicine (MB BCh) programme in Cardiff. The Department also contributes to several other undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programmes in the Schools of Medicine, Dentistry, and Pharmacy. Over the last four years, four members of the Department of Pharmacology, Therapeutics and Toxicology have been awarded prizes for "excellence in teaching" by the School of Medicine.
Professor Phil Routledge, Professor of Clinical Pharmacology and Head of Department said :- “This ranking builds on previous achievements of these two units, and highlights the quality of the teaching and also of the staff who have contributed to this increasing success over the last three years”. “We are pleased that our links with Pharmacy (the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences) are particularly strong, and we are now collaborating in an evaluation of inter-professional learning in therapeutics and prescribing for medical and pharmacy undergraduates”.
“Together with our colleagues in Pharmacy, we are proud of this most recent achievement, which sees Cardiff University consolidating its already strong national and international reputation for the teaching of both pharmacology and pharmacy”.
