Research themes
Research focuses upon common psychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders. It is organised around 7 major themes.
- Psychosis and Major Affective DisordersOur work aims to understand the genetic and environmental factors that involved in the major psychotic and mood disorders (including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and depression).
- Neurodegenerative DisordersOur aims are to understand some of the causes of different forms of neurodegeneraton including Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Huntington’s diseases and multiple sclerosis.
- Developmental DisordersOur research encompasses genetics, epidemiological and clinical translational research on childhood-onset psychiatric and developmental disorders.
- Genetic modelsOur work aims to uncover the roles of specific genes in human behaviour and brain function.
- Biostatistics & Bioinformatics UnitOur work focuses on the analysis of large volumes of biological data to help understand the causes of mental-health related diseases.
